AidSpring Continues Earthquake Recovery Support

in Syria and Turkey: 15,000 Families Assisted

TALLINN, ESTONIA — March 2025

Ongoing Recovery After Devastation

More than two years after the devastating earthquakes that struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, hundreds of thousands of families continue to struggle with the aftermath. Many remain in temporary shelters, entire neighborhoods lie in ruins, and the psychological scars of the disaster are still raw. AidSpring Foundation has maintained a sustained presence in the affected areas, providing ongoing recovery support to 15,000 families.

The foundation’s earthquake response has evolved from immediate emergency relief—food, water, and shelter—to longer-term recovery programs focused on rebuilding homes, restoring livelihoods, and supporting psychological healing. This transition reflects AidSpring’s commitment to staying with communities not just during the crisis, but through the long and difficult process of rebuilding.

Rebuilding Homes and Infrastructure

AidSpring has provided construction materials, technical expertise, and financial support to help 3,000 families repair or rebuild their damaged homes. The foundation’s approach prioritizes earthquake-resistant construction techniques, ensuring that rebuilt structures are safer and more resilient than what they replaced.

Community infrastructure projects have included the repair of water systems, the renovation of schools and health clinics, and the clearance of debris from public spaces. These projects not only restore essential services but also create employment opportunities for local workers, supporting economic recovery alongside physical reconstruction.

Livelihood Restoration

The earthquakes destroyed thousands of small businesses, farms, and workshops, leaving families without income. AidSpring’s livelihood restoration programs provide grants, tools, equipment, and business training to help affected families get back on their feet economically.

Programs include agricultural support packages for farming families, small business restart grants for shopkeepers and artisans, and vocational training for individuals whose previous livelihoods are no longer viable. Each program is tailored to local economic conditions and designed to create sustainable, long-term income sources.
